Cap Ferrat for a Weekend

Cap Ferrat for a Weekend

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is one of those places that feels like a secret even when it's not. Tucked between Nice and Monaco on the French Riviera, this tiny peninsula is home to some of the most beautiful villas in Europe, impossibly clear water and a pace of life that feels entirely its own.

Where to Stay

The crown jewel is the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel. The pool alone is worth the trip — perched on the cliffs with views stretching to the horizon. If you're looking for something more intimate, there are lovely smaller hotels and rental villas dotted across the peninsula.

Where to Eat

For a casual lunch by the water, head to La Palma at the port of Saint-Jean. For something more special, the restaurant at the Grand-Hôtel is exceptional. Don't miss an early evening aperitivo at one of the café terraces in the village square.

What to Do

The Chemin de Douaniers — a coastal path that circles the entire peninsula — is a must. Allow about two hours and you'll pass rocky coves, hidden beaches and breathtaking views. Visit the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild for its extraordinary gardens, and rent a kayak or paddleboard to explore the coastline from the water.

Getting There

Nice airport is the closest hub — from there it's a 30-minute drive. Cap Ferrat is an easy day trip from Monaco, and a natural stop on a broader Côte d'Azur itinerary.
